How to sleep well?

How was your sleep last night? Deep and sound or short and restless? Did you enjoy it, or you took 1000 positions that still didn’t help you achieve any better sleep? If you answered the latter to both of those questions, then we’re sure you’ve been desperately looking for ways to get good sleep.

But before you consider extreme measures to get back your sleep, have you considered natural solutions?

We are talking all about essential oils, and how they can help you achieve the sleep you’ve been dreaming of.

Perhaps before now, you only saw them as perfumes and never knew they possessed such healing power. But not to worry, I’ll share some secrets, you would learn everything there is to know about essential oils, including why and how they are so great at delivering proper rest.

What are essential oils?

Any volatile oil that gives plants their characteristic odors and is used especially in perfumes and flavorings is an essential oil, otherwise called aromatherapy oils. The volatile nature of this oil means it easily evaporates at normal temperature.

Essential oils are made up of the distilled parts of a plant that are volatile. A typical essential oil consists of 100 or more chemical constituents created by a plant, which makes them quite concentrated.

About 250 pounds of lavender flowers make 1 pound of lavender essential oil and about 5,000 pounds of rose petals or lemon balm make 1 pound of rose or lemon balm essential oil.

Benefits of essential oil

Studies have revealed that essential oils help boost your mood, reduce stress, increase attentiveness, improve sleep, and even kill bacteria, fungi, and viruses.

The sweet perfume sends a signal to your brain and encourages it to release the happiness hormone which helps reduce stress. The oils also awaken your senses and help you focus better. Peppermint oil is one of these oils that really help to improve focus.

Essential oils like Bergamot oil have also been known to reduce anxiety and pain, which is great when you’re worried and just can’t get your mind to rest.

However, of all these benefits, one of the best and the most common benefit of essential oils is that they help to cure lack of sleep, the condition that’s medically known as insomnia.

Insomnia

Insomnia is basically a persistent problem with falling and staying asleep. Symptoms include difficulty in falling asleep, waking up in the middle of the night and difficulty in returning to sleep, feeling extremely tired during the day even after a full night of rest, problems with concentration or memory, and a general irritable and depressed mood.

You can buy Modafinil online to treat insomnia.

Over time, lack of sleep or poor quality sleep can negatively affect your physical and mental health. Insomnia can contribute to:

Diabetes: Diabetes mellitus, commonly known as diabetes, is a metabolic disease that causes high blood sugar. With diabetes, your body either doesn’t make enough insulin or can’t effectively use the insulin it does make. It is a terminal disease and can be caused by insomnia.

Driving accidents, injuries, and falls: insomnia can cause dizziness which may set in when one is driving. This can cause accidents or injuries and in worst cases fall. Insomnia contributes to constant dizziness

High blood pressure (hypertension):High blood pressure (also known as hypertension) is when the force of the blood flowing through your blood vessels is consistently too high. Insomnia leads to high blood pressure because it comes with restlessness.

Heart disease, and stroke: Heart and blood vessel disease — also called heart disease — includes numerous problems, many of which are related to a process called atherosclerosis. Atherosclerosis is a condition that develops when a substance called plaque builds up in the walls of the arteries. This buildup narrows the arteries, making it harder for blood to flow through. If a blood clot forms, it can stop the blood flow. This can cause strokes. And insomnia creates and worsens such conditions.

Mood disorders: Insomnia leads to mood disorder. You lose total control of your mood. Your moods easily switch without any known reason or action

Weight gain and obesity: insomnia is a breeding ground for obesity and excessive weight gain. Most individuals with insomnia confess they eat those times they are awake for no reason just to occupy their mind. Eating at such an hour is very unhealthy. Leads to indigestion and motivates obesity.

Essential oil can help.

You can experience the aromatic effects of these essential oils in several ways. Terra Mana essential oil recommends applying to the soles of your feet, wrists, or palms at the beginning and end of the day to help you feel calm and relaxed. Lavender and sage can also be applied directly to the skin.

Before applying any essential oil topically, be sure to dilute your essential oil with a carrier oil. Applying undiluted essential oils to your skin can irritate. Common carrier oils include coconut oil, jojoba, and extra virgin olive oils. As a general rule of thumb, you should use one teaspoon of carrier oil for every one drop of essential oil.

You can also add 2-3 drops of these essential oils to a diffuser. This will release the scent into your home.

If you prefer not to leave your diffuser running, you may consider adding a few drops of essential oil to your pillowcase shortly before bedtime. This will allow the scent to linger throughout your sleeping hours.

Many essential oils will help you get to sleep, but marjoram oil will keep you there.

You’ve probably reached for rosemary to add flavor to some of your recipes. But using rosemary oil also has additional benefits like improving brain function, promoting hair growth, reducing pain and stress, lifting your mood, and reducing joint inflammation.

Rosemary oil is safe to use in aromatherapy and topically on the skin with a carrier oil. If you’re pregnant or have epilepsy or high blood pressure, it’s advised to avoid using rosemary oil.

Lavender essential oil is known for its versatility of benefits. The lavender oil is top-of-field when it comes to help with sleep as well. Numerous studies have cited the effectiveness of inhaling lavender oil to keep insomnia at bay. In large part, this is related to the other benefits lavender oil confers, which include lowering heart rate, temperature and blood pressure, all processes which–not incidentally–mirror the stages the body undergoes when easing into sleep. Lavender oil is also known to reduce anxiety, which is critical to relaxing at the end of a long day fraught with any number of difficulties.
